Spent the whole Sunday in our vacation house.  Now I've gotten used to liking it... spending weekends there with a terrific day ~a shame to waste it, but I was stayed alone because Pao and Pats consumed their time together with a father-son bonding activity.
Just as I had finished cleaning up some dusts and watering the garden, I don't even remember feeling tired about it, just that I only missed the two and my mom of course, she would probably stay here for as long as she wants.
I've had about all I can take for one day... then I was free.

...windy siesta in the bedroom

complete silence in the hallway,

 -idle.

But somehow it was a great day~  really, really relaxed!  It can be tough sometimes being solo but I've learned to enjoy solitude just as much as spending time with other people.

I'm not going to take down our Christmas decorations until January 7, certainly after the Three Kings Day like we normally do. Well, Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th, exactly twelve days after Christmas, so the garland will be hanging in there a little bit longer.

In addition to dealing with  some decors and house stuff.  I'll be busy working and organizing things around our house,  like I'm potentially facing a lot of cleaning and arranging.  Surely some stress will occur naturally and scheduling is another story... but fun stuff  it would be exciting.
Thanks Roberta... I got inspired by her con.tain.it it's all about solution for storing in style.  A new inspiration on my blogroll.

It certainly was not the best Christmas. The dinner table was set and the stereo was playing carols, and on that night, I felt Mom and Pap's absence even more. Leaving us with the string of "Parent less" Yuletide. Well, Papa's always in a missing-in-action mode for all seasons and it was in a sense the start of an entirely different tradition for us.
We were used to celebrating Christmas with practically the whole clan... with our gra'ma of course, uncle, aunt and cousins for an eve dinner. And would troop over to the living room and start opening our gifts. It's just essentially a family affair. Clannish as we may be... but unfortunately some of us who simply have to trade the comfort of home for the confines of the workplace.
On the other hand now, Christmas won't be the same without our table occupied by Excellente Cooked Ham (Excelente Cooked Ham is usually mobbed during the holidays in Echague Street. One kilo of sweet ham retails at P680.00). With the anticipated dishes made for Noche Buena and usually made by one of our family members. Aunt made her Beef Shank Sotanghon, and uncle with his Crispy-Pata (Deep-Fried Pork Hock) sliced with special condiments and some spices. I just showed off my Spaghetti mixed with mushroom and pineapple and Pao made his special velvety "Halayang Ube" (Candied yam) as our dessert. And so the Aristocrat Restaurant in Roxas Boulevard gave us their anticipated gift Chicken Barbeque (more than enough for us) and their special Cake, (forgot the name) several layers of thin torte made of egg whites mixed with nuts and interspersed with marshmallow icing of butter and chocolate spiked with rum.
Patrick and my cousins just set off the Videokê and just within minutes applauding at the wonder of it all.

First things first for my mom! Christmas won't be complete without the garland in our living room... she'd definitely insist to put it as early as November if she's here in the Philippines. Perhaps one of the reason why I was so busy last weekend, and this time, I put it over the seating area.
Note that I just add my own handmade lamp shade... I'm kinda fascinated by the modern looking ones readily available in the market... we have a lot of lamps here in our showroom though but it's too expensive... I just made my own and I think it's nice too. I could also change the shade whenever I want with something unique depends on the occasion.

-made out of thick pattern paper, sinamay straw fabric, stainless steel base, and CFL lamp (warm white in color). It's also nice with a decorative sheer and plain fabric too. Try it!

Every morning, I would come to work at 9:00 to 9:30 AM. Yeah, a bit late just to enjoy the first couple of hours of the day with Paolo and Patrick before they would go to their respective places.
After work, family would meet for a dinner, check Patrick's homework, watch TV days and abundance of hugs and kisses from Paolo.
On weekends, family comes home to Bulacan for a short vacation, a trip to a theatre whenever there's an interesting movie to watch with, a nice picnic, an extravagant dinner or even uneventful day at home in Manila.
Now what about the extraordinary everyday??? for me! there's nothing wrong with making everyday extraordinary... but it all seems so movie-like, so surreal. What sustains our relationships are the familiar routine that we shouldn't take for granted. The ordinary everyday and the ability to make these special.

I was thinking if I really need to replace my old vanity with a new and modern looking ones... I know, I know... it's been neglected for years though, but I think I need more organized storage to accomodate more stuff. However, there are few things that need improving without really replacing the whole thing right... and that I need to figure out.!!! hmmm, let's wait and see.
Got this expert ideas from

Plan the perfect dressing table ...
Banish clutter for good with our tips on how to turn your dressing table into the ideal place for a spot of pampering

  • Illuminate the dressing table from above so you have plenty of light for applying your make-up.

  • Make your necklaces and earrings easy to find by pinning them to cork boards covered with padding and fabric.

  • Glass jars are great for keeping cotton wool and cotton buds tidy but within easy reach.

  • A handy hairdryer hook attached to the wall or side of your dressing table will hold your hairdryer while you're styling your hair.

  • Keep your hairdryer, curling tongs, straightening irons and any other electricals in a pretty drawstring bag and hang it on the wall next to your dressing table. Not only will you know where to find everything, but you won't be tripped up by trailing wire.
not bad at all!

Sunday Favorites...Posted back in May.

I have this so called
"green thumb"

...an extraordinary ability to make plants grow well.  Only this year I've realized that I could settle for an extravagant activity during weekends aside from shopping, Yay!

I was thinking If grass would be nice in this spot... or maybe just a simple white gravel instead!

Sowing, watering, even talking to the plants are really soothing... sometimes, you just have to do things like that... they have a life and definitely worth keeping around.
